Acoustics Systems for the Submarine Fleet

APL-UW Engineers have developed numerous high-bandwidth acoustic recording systems for U.S. Navy submarines. The engineering team handles all aspects of the development — from design conception to the actual building and deployment of the equipment. This can include the design of complicated custom electronic assemblies to interface the recording systems with an ever increasing suite of submarine sensors. We design and produce ruggedized packaging, adapt commercial off-the-shelf hardware, and develop mission critical software to solve the Navy’s recording requirements. The team is trained in all phases of equipment testing required to ensure that the system will work in the submarine environment.

Shipboard Signal Processing Tools. A software engineering team specializes in developing highly optimized signal processing tools to perform shipboard analysis and quality assurance on the collected data. We have the ability to perform rapid development and field mission specific algorithms and capabilities to fill in functional gaps in fleet tactical systems.

Shore-based Analysis & Screening Systems. The team leverages decades of acoustic signal processing development to deliver flexible high-performance data screening and analysis capabilities at U.S. Navy forward sites to support rapid exploitation and dissemination of the collected data.
